I've had good luck with connecting threads as well. There prices make our quilting affordable. I try to support our LQS as well but their batiks are more than twice the price of connecting threads. LQS has some better quatily batiks than I bought but is twice the price worth it?

buy regularly from fabric shack, never had a problem, they are always most helpfull.
