I just pushed back clothes in my closet and stood the roll up. My clothes didn't mind, even though they are pretty stuffed together in there. :)

I do buy the 40 yard rolls of Warm and Natural. I keep it in the box it comes in. I have found less waste because I can cut it to the size I want. My quilts usually are not the exact size of a pre-cut, pre-packaged batt.

I haven't done it myself, but I have read about quilters who hang a rod from chains attached to the ceiling of their garage. The batting roll goes on the rod and they can pull down as much batting as they want. They cover it with a sheet of plastic in-between uses.

I have bought the whole roll from Joann's, if they didn't have it they ordered it and called me when it came in. So no shipping cost.

me to ---i get mine from joann's 50% off and they call when it comes in [no shipping ] then i just put the roll under the LA pull it to the start point ...un- roll as needed then cut when done at the edge of quilt ...no waste and no cutting short [at the end you get a nice straight edge ]

I got a whole roll from Jo'Ann's and it came wrapped in plastic. It did have a box ... but they had discarded it when it was unpacked at the store. I keep mine in a closet . I too find the roll more economical to be able to cut the size I need... also it keeps me from buying packaged batting on speculation only to find I never have the right size on hand.

I have a guest room closet and that is where my roll of batting lives. I keep it in the bag it came in.

I bought a whole roll of W&N on Overstock. First and only purchase I have made from there so far. It came wrapped in plastic, but when it's time to open it I will put it on a rack/holder similar to the one Prism99 described, where we have 2 lengths of chain, suspended from hooks in ceiling, with pvc pipe suspended on the chains, I then roll batting on the pvc pipe. Dh made mine for me.

I made this to keep my batting on. Since I posted the pic, I attached a curtain rod below the roll to help me cut straight
