Hey Tonsau7, if doing repair sewing is getting you back in the sewing mood you must be good. Repairs are enough to ake me pack the machine away. Give me scraps anytime.

welcome, Welcome WELCOME!!!!
No project has to be overwhelming. Just 5 or 10 minutes of sewing while the laundry is in the washer, or waiting for the potatoes to boil, and voila! It's amazing how much you can get done in 1 week, then 1 month!

10 minutes - my 15 minutes minutes a day of hand quilting turn into an hour. (now that the gkids are back in school) Just take the 1st steps.

Welcome Tonsau7 from Argentina.
I always find that going out shopping or ordering some new material gets me motivated to start sewing something new.
There are so many talented people on this board. Just go to Pictures and look at some of the outstanding work they all do, that should inspire you.

I like your idea to be a slacker.

Yes jump in and get started. But be careful, this board is an addiction all its own.

I just got back from Joann's and found quilt fabric for $1.99 a yard! I know that it may not be the best fabric in the world but it is definitely in my price range. Go the a fabric store when you have some time to really look around and get some inspiration. The results will be worth it. YOU are worth it.

Also , Hobby Lobby has their fabric 30% off now if you have any of them around.
I was visiting son in Texas and was able to buy quarter yards cheaply and brought home a small bag full of stitched hexagons. I am having lots of fun doing them, I just hope sewing the rows together isn't to difficult.

Welcome !! You'll love it here. When I can't get moving, I look at the pictures posted here and that usually helps. Everyone here is so encouraging to each other...Pat

Tonsau7 Welcome! I'm from Indiana. I look through all my sewing and quilting books for inspiration! I'm a bit of a bookworm! hee hee!

Welcome to the board. Look through some magazines and visit a shop with your sister It will help inspire you. How about making a baby quilt to donate to the premie ward at your local hospital or a small lap quilt for someone in a nursing home. Set a small goal and smile when you reach it!

tonsau7 08-26-2010 06:00 AM

Thanks again to all of you for the warm welcome and encouragement.
