Calling all pattern experts.....

While I was in church last week (trying to pay attention LOL) a woman in the pew ahead of me had a stunning quilted jacket (just done with quilting thread like a whole cloth quilt but with a center medallion on the back) with a pattern done like this. I'm sure it was a manufactured jacket. It reminded me of looking down on a chair seat that had been caned. Can this be replicated in a pattern without using a bunch of HSTs or is there already one in existence? It was fascinating to me with the appearance of woven strips, similar to a garden trellis but more complicated. Without whipping out my pen in church during the sermon, I was trying to memorize it in my "pea brain" until I got home LOL There is inspiration everywhere, right? Any help you can offer would be appreciated. Thanks. The X symbolizes the edge of the block.

It certainly looks like caning.

Another name that is the garden twist or similar to it http://www.quiltwoman.com/Around-The...t-Pattern.aspx so often I've seen these names missed up. Anyway, maybe this can help you out somewhat.

Senior moment. I have seen this pattern before but I just can't recall where.

She was right in front of you. I would have asked, unless she sprinted out the door at the end of the service.

If it was pieced, I would have, but it was done totally in an outline with thread............darn.

I'd say your little "pea brain" did just fine! I couldn't have sketched that out by memory without twisting it all up. Each block would be another variation, lol! Garden Twist is what came to my mind, too. I know it's around, so you should be able to find it. Good luck!

I love the design. I can see it done with square and half squares but in thread..............wow many, many starts and stops. I will be watching this post for more ideas. Thanks.
