camo quilt
I have a request from a 10 year old nephew for a quilt made with camo fabric. I am stumped on what to do. He lives in Hawaii but his parents are not in the military. Any ideas out there.

there are lots of camo fabrics out there. You can also do a search here on QB for "camo quilt" and you'll see some patterns that work well with it.

Is your question about a pattern or fabric? If fabric, there are lots of camo pattern fabrics that you can mix with coordinating solid colors in a quilt. For patterns, I would stick with something simple because the camo pattern fabric will be somewhat 'busy', so a simple D9P or Rail Fence or Warm Wishes would work well, using larger size block pieces. Google 'Camo Quilt' and you will see several images to get some ideas working. And since he lives in Hawaii, I would stick to cottons and keep the batting on the lighter side, doesn't need a super warm quilt there!

My grandson also is into "camo" stuff so I made him a BQ2 quilt which uses large blocks and is very fast and easy to make. He loved it and wants a second one so he can have one upstairs and one downstairs at all times.

I made a "Camo" quilt for a GGS using the Warm Wishes pattern. It turned out great and he loved it. God luck.

I did one with non camo specific fabrics using the mossy greens, beiges, and browns in random 2-1/2" squares. I don't know what happened to my picture of it. Anyway it was well liked by the kiddo that it was made for.

Here's a link to two very simple throws that I made for my grandchildren.

Granddaughter wanted to make one for the "new" boyfriend. LOL, we bought the camo for the backing and we decided to make an Irish Chain with coordinating fabrics for the top. I did the cutting, she did the sewing!. She even took a picture as proof! LOL
