My sister in law brought me a bunch of foundation papers that she found. She doesn't have any instructions and doesn't remember what the pattern is called. Can any help and identify the pattern and tell me how it is sewn?

I think I can see from the center that each corner is done and added to, but I can't figure out how to color coordinate to form the pattern once the blocks are sewn together.

Looks similar to a pineapple block.

It's called the pineapple log cabin. If you do an internet search, you can probably find directions. But it looks like you start in the center and work your way out to the outside.

Yes, Pineapple Log Cabin

Thanks Lynda! I wonder how this would work up as a scrappy? Moonpi's example is great and I see exactly what I needed.

This is a beautiful pattern and can be made in two colors up to a scrappy style and anything inbetween. Do a search and you will see how wonderful and versital it is. On my list of favorites, it's right up at the top!
peace

it looks very much like a paper design from Lynn Graves of Little Foot. Check her web site and see if it is.

Oh yes, this is a pineapple block. This is an easy and fun block to paper piece, just time consuming. Usually pineapple blocks have a red center, but I've seen them without...you'll want to number each square in the order to sew them, starting with the innermost square which will be number one. Here's a couple pictures of some of mine that I've made...I think you can even see the numbering enough on my paper templates for you to number yours. If you have any questions on how to put this together I'd be happy to help. ;)

I finally made it through 16 of these 12" blocks and I'm not going to do any more! I wanted to do it as a scrappy with a lot of purple as this is for my sister in law and she loves purple.
I screwed up my colors arrangements (light/dark) on several so it doesn't flow correctly on all the blocks, but it will stay as is.

Thanks to everyone for instructions and samples.

It looks wonderful! It's scrappy and fun, and gives you a lot to look at. I'm a purple lover too, and I'd be thrilled with it.

It looks absolutely gorgeous!

Oh, sorry Roxanne, I wasn't trying to be snarky, I hadn't seen your quilt before I posted! I think yours is very pretty! Love the cheerful colors!

Not to worry Peggi, I didn't take any offense.
