Can anyone answer a question for newbie?
 

Please advise. I bought a Christmas panel at a quilt show: Moda: Crazy Eight Reindeer Panel 441. It is very cute. I am finding out I can not find a lot of fabric options from that line. AKA : novivce quilter, who knew.

Q: Can I mix other Moda Sandy Gervais Christmas Fabrics with this?

I do not live in an area with LQS so I must depend on the internet for purchases unless traveling attending a QS.
As we all know colors, size ect change when viewing via internet.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can do anything you want to. It is your design and there are no rules that you must follow to be a quilter. there are some people tht will try to tell you different but, there really are no quilt police.

Certainly you can mix her other lines, or anybody else's for that matter. I recently needed one print from that line myself, and found plenty of it at www.quiltshops.com, www.etsy.com (change the search catagory to "supplies"), and www.ebay.com. Good luck, love that line, just made a dresden table runner, and as soon as I get the border on, I'll be posting it.

It is YOURS. You can mix anything with your panel that you think looks good. Once an item is yours, you can do anything you like. There are no quilt police that can/will stop you.

You can absolutely mix anything that you like with it. You can also google the pattern line and order additional coordinated fabric on line and know that it will match.

THe second collection at this site is the collection I think.

Some online fabric store sites have a design wall feature that lets you select the fabric photos and put them on a virtual design wall. That way you can put up your Moda panel and select others that you think will go with it and then play around to see what works best for you. As lillybeck said, no quilt police here. Do what looks good to you.

Edit: I just checked my list of Favorites and found one website that has an interactive design wall: www.quiltfabriccloseouts.com, which may or may not be helpful. Failing that, you could try putting things in a virtual shopping cart and then comparing them. Hopefully someone else will have a better solution for you.

I can't afford to buy from a "real" quilt shop right now. Thank goodness I have a healthy stash! I love a scrappy look and love to use a panel in the center and add blocks all around. Number of rows depends on the size of the quilt. Good luck!

It seems like some years many manufacturers use approximately the same colors.

I've been able to get really close matches or coordinates using more than one line of fabric. In fact, when I checked the selvages, I was surprised to see that I was using three different brands/lines of fabric - the colors were almost identical.

It is okay to mix and match lines/brands. I like to keep the weights/textures approximately the same, but that's another personal preference.

It's all up to your own choice thats what makes them special!!!
