Can anyone help me?
 

I have decided to make a quilt using pictures of my grandson's artwork...mostly painted pics from his art class at school. My question is how do I go about tranferring his pictures onto fabric? What do I need, etc?

One high-tech way would be to scan to your computer and make transfers. You can go to the tutorial section of this board and search for "fabric transfers"--members have posted ideas there.

Oooh, my first thought was applique - you could scan the pictures, import into EQ (if you have it), use the "trace image" feature, then create an applique pattern for each picture.

But it sounds like you might be talking about printing on fabric, right?

my lil one's art class is uploaded to artstonia (artstonia.com i think) hubby buys me all her art work for mothers day and christmas.. Its the neatest gift(s) hubby ever got me..

What about walgreens and walmart.. cant you take the artwork there scan it and have them special order it on fabric??

Why not scan it into your computer then print it out onto inkjet printable fabric. You can purchase this fabric at quilt shops. I'm going to print some photos onto some of this fabric and make a wall hanging memory of our trip to Europe last year.

Some of my GKs are on artsonia and I have saved all their pictures now for 3 years. I too want to make quilts using them.

My grand daughter has down syndrome and will be 22 this month. She loves to draw and some of her drawings are unique, so decided to make her a quilt using the drawings. She had drawn them in pencil so I went over each drawing with a fine tip marker, then took digital pictures. Purchased printable fabric sheets (Dritz brand) and printed each picture on to a sheet. Processed the sheets as recommended on the package. It turned out really cute. Attaching pictures of the quilt to share.
Picture 1 is sample of drawing
Picture 2 is layout of quilt
Picture 3 is the label done on computer then printed on fabric and appliqued to block

There is a book called "Photo fun, print your own fabric for quilts and crafts". It is available on amazon. Several others pop up,too. You could find one you think you would like.
If the pictures fit in your copier/scanner you could do it that way.
