My friend has this and isn't sure where it came from...to me it looks like the outside rows are not placed correctly, that the long sides should be parallel but maybe not???

isn't this hexagon English paper piecing......like grandmothers garden one?

QuiltnNan 04-11-2013 03:25 PM

that was my first thought, too, but with elongated hexies. it's very pretty.

Very pretty block! Does she just have the one or a whole set? If just one I think I would piece in the corners and then cut it square to have a block. I don't know the name.

Check the Inklingo site to see if you think it's the "Patchwork of the Crosses". Looks like it to me.

I think the outside edges look wonky because of the elongated hexi shape. I think if they were true hexi shapes it would look nicer. . . Just thinking out loud !

I love this block!

I am glad the pattern was identified, and also that I now know there is life after tracing! I had never heard of Inklingo before and now must get an inkjet printer!!! As a needle turn hand appliqué'r and hand quilter, this is a very exciting bit of information!!! Once again, this amazing board has increased my knowledge so that I can eliminate the tedious bits and focus on the parts of quilting I love! Thanks!!!

hand piecing this quilt is the way to go I think. This is Karen from quilts etc. the link someone posted above goes to my blog. the hexagons are 90 degree and make a wonderful quilt. I have a 3 part tutorial on my site on how to make this block please feel free to browse and ask questions if you need to.

The block is so different, I love it.

MartiMorga 04-13-2013 09:05 AM

I love that block too! I would think making more would be the only answer, LOL.

I am making a queen size Patchwork of the Crosses - it is getting closer, I have been working on it off and on for about a year now. It gets kind of addictive after awhile - photos on my blog scattered throughout.
