Sorry that's embarrassing I forgot to attach the photo! Boy is my face red! Sheesh!

I'm not sure but I don't think that is a block. I saw this before being used to show fabric in a line. I could be wrong, maybe someone else would know.

here is a tutorial I found using google, "five pointed star quilt block"
http://voices.yahoo.com/photos/how-f...67.html?cat=59

If this link doesn't work, maybe you can find some more by doing the same search.

If you right click on the pic and choose "search google for this image" it will give you results where it can be found online. Has anyone tried this?

the name seems to be cosmic burst

I found that same pattern a while back and saved it to my computer. Let's see if I can download it successfully.
It's a small quilt (13 x 18) called Cosmic Burst Star.

Sorry but the upload failed .... if you google search Cosmic Burst Star quilting pattern you will find the requested pattern. I'm thinking you can enlarge it for a whole quilt size. Good luck.

Cool pattern and answers the question "what should I do with my FQ bundle?"

Thanks for posting that link! It was hard to see the stitch lines in that photo as she seemed to match the fabric perfectly.

That's what I thought too. I'm thinking it is a fused appliqué technique, not the actual piecing like the pattern says. If you enlarge the picture and look real close, it is pieced on one of the legs of the star, though only 2 fabrics are pieced.

Wow, love that pattern. Thanks for the question and the link.

I never cease to be amazed at this Board. Love the conversations, the help and most of all the happy feeling I get reading and answering blogs. Thanks to all of you and please never stop quilting.

Sorry I can't help but love your block-great colours.

Even though the fabric shown at the beginning of the instructions is the same as what's in the star block, it sure doesn't seem to me, to be the correct instructions for sewing the block. I can see seams in the photo where there aren't seams in the directions. Plus I don't see seams where there are seams in the block. How does that work?

Thanks for the link. It's a cool pattern. It might be fun scrappy as well.

Wow, DebraK, that is an excellent tutorial. Paper pieced. Who would have thunk it. Brilliant people out there in quilt land.

WOW! photos and all! I just might be worth the "work" and re-learning machine-piecing again.
Thanks DebraK.
