Can I back a silk pillow front (made with mens ties) with cotton fabric?
I made a few pillow tops with silk ties from a neighbor whose husband passed. I would like to know if I can back them with cotton...I don't have silk material left. My neighbor knows that the pillows would have to be spot-cleaned when needed.

I don't se why not! Just pick a co-or donating pattern or color and I am sure she will love the keepsake. I have seen several other posts on this board where creative quilters mix quilting cottons with silk and many other fabrics. In fact I think a cotton backing is a good idea as it will be less slick and will stay on the bed/chair/couch better !

Yes, I would think that would be fine. Any fabric will do - whatever you have that will match. HTH

Sure! The cotton will make them stay in place better (less slippery than silk).

of course- silk & cotton are *paired* often- so is silk & wool...no reason not to go with the cotton if that is your choice.

I made 4 necktie pillows for Christmas presents for my adult children. I used a fine corduory (sp)and they were beautiful. I made the pillow envelope style and then inserted a pillow form. Looks very professiomal
