Can I use XP Thread to make quilts

I was wondering if XP thread is good for machine piecing and quilting.

soooo---what is XP thread? I've been sewing for almost 50 years and have never heard of XP thread- what is it made of? cotton? polyester? silk? rayon? a blend? what size (weight) is it? is it coated with something? I think we need a little more information before we can answer your question. thread that is specified for 'hand quilting' or other hand use is generally coated with a wax and should never be used in a machine- any thread that says for machine use is ok to use in your machine- if it passes a strength/tug-test and is strong enough to not break easily- is the correct weight for what you are doing you can most likely use it- but having no idea what it actually is i'm taking wild guesses.

Are you talking about Coats & Clark Dual Duty XP thread? If so, yes you can use it for making quilts. It is what I use almost exclusively. I was taught to sew by my mother and to quilt by my Great Aunt and they both used Coats & Clark thread. My machine likes it and I've ever had any problems using it.

Same here. I use it all the time for quilting and garment sewing. I love it and sew does my machine.

I have used the C&C XP thread for piecing and was pleased with it.
