So? Muslin Mates are not the regular Moda lines layer cakes are cut from. Check the price of any of the regular Moda lines.

I agree. I would compare muslin mates more to moda solids than the printed lines.

Muslin Mates are used most for background fabrics, but can be used as other pieces in a block. They come in white, natural and muslin colors so are quite versatile.
The standard lines of Moda, depending on designer, do cost more because Moda charges more per yard to the shops.
These can run$9-11 /yard. Although I do not have any Modas in my shop that run $11/yard at this time. I'm sure it will just be a matter of time when I re-order that my cost will be more in 2011 than I paid in 2010. I will have to charge accordingly.

YOUR MATH ISNT VERY CLOSE....

You could cut four of those 10 inch squares across.. thats four in a 10 inch row.

42 (or 44) would require 11 of those strips, thats 10" x 11 strips, 110 inches.

3 yards would be 108 inches. So you are getting about THREE YARDS OF FABRIC... Layer Cakes are Moda, which is about $10 a yard common quilt shop price. Thats $30.

SO... You are paying around $5 for the enjoyment of having 42 mostly different squarers of lovely Moda fabric....normally with a theme or common coordinated idea... And besides the variety, they are precut to the 10x10 inch size and if you bought them for a book or pattern that starts with 10x10 inch squares, then half of the cutting is done for you. Its not a bad deal at all ! sheeps

I don't kno what a GO is either.

The accuquilt Go is a machine that you use with steel dies (actually I think they are plastic or maybe with wood inside but the blades are steel). You put your fabric on the die and roll it through the machine and it cuts your fabric out. You can see it at http://www.accuquilt.com

When I first started quilting the fat quarters were a great way to get variety. Now I prefer to buy at least half yards. It seems to be more usable for me. The only precuts I would buy now are the shapes, such as hearts, bears, butterflies etc. The extra cost is worth the saving of time cutting out. Someday I may feel it is worth the expense of getting the dye cutting machine. Right now it is to expensive for the few I need.
