Have you considered inviting your friend to shop with you for the fabric? You two might find something you like even better than your original idea. :)

This idea might be really worth considering. I have done this with seven different friends. What was neat was that I knew they would be happy with the quilts! In each case, I showed them about ten quilt patterns I was comfortable making and they selected both the pattern and the fabric. It worked really well for me.

I have just been given some modern fabrics which I think have these colours in. Am away from home at moment so will check on Monday.

You might have to use one fabric (if you can find it) with all the colors and complete it in solids.

Have you tried Hancock's fabric in Paducah? Their catalog is great and they are SO helpful. Good Luck.

Thanks sweet. I had not seen that first fabric line. And of course I LOVE the flannel. THAT is exactly what I was thinking of. But she lives in North Carolina and flannel is not practical.

I live in NC and flannel is very practical. It gets cold here in the winter too.

I live in NC as well and while it gets chilly here is the winter, if you want her to use the quilt year round, I agree that flannel isn't practical. It would be too warm at least 8 months of the year.

I love that fabric. Now, if I needed it I would buy it in a minute. I would say that is exactly what you are looking for, Jane. It sure would be my choice for what that is worth.
