I'm almost done with my quilt top and I want to try hand quilting with it. I found a video on how to start the thread by putting the knot into the first layer of the quilt (is it called an invisible knot?) but I'm not sure how to tie it off when I'm done with that strand. Is there a video or easy illustrsation?

I make a small loop close to the quilt, pass the needle through it two times, tighten the knot about 1/2 inch from the quilt top, put the needle in between the layers (inserting it close to where you came up - so it follows your quilting design) and travel about an inch or so, and pop the knot.

Does this make sense??

I'm like Kara in a sense...I make a small knot (underneath)when done...and then pull my needle and thread 'between' the batting a couple of inches from knot...pull it back out underneath and gently tug that knot back inside and clip thread where I just pulled it back out (make sense?)

Also, here's a great info site at: http://www.quilttownusa.com/mom/hqbbeginners.htm (Love this book!) if you get a chance...go check out the book by Jinny Beyer on hand quilting...awesome!
