I am stump. Is it a flower or a boat with a sail??

QuiltnNan 12-18-2015 06:51 AM

looks like an anchor to me

nativetexan 12-18-2015 07:53 AM

it made me think of tulips, block style.

aronel 12-18-2015 01:20 PM

Anchors was my first thought also.

Weezy Rider 12-18-2015 02:21 PM

How old is it? It reminds me of something that might have been printed in a local paper in the 30s.

DresiArnaz 12-18-2015 03:52 PM

Could be an anchor or a boat but it looks more like a daisy to me because of the green stems.

I searched six ways to Sunday and couldn't find anything similar unless you alter one of the anchor patterns to match.

Could be a one of a kind pattern.

SandyinZ4 12-18-2015 03:56 PM

I'm going with an anchor as my best guess, too.

Looks like an anchor to me.

I agree with the idea of flowers. Each one has a green stem and I don't think it would be that way for an anchor. Flowers in a fancy pot or vase

Sandygirl 12-19-2015 04:27 AM

The anchor is winning. My vote too.

My first thought was an anchor. But 0n second thought I don't think the background would be pink if it was meant to be an anchor. The "green stem" does not stand out on my computer. If it is green than I definitely think it is a flower "arrangement" in a low bowl. Neat pattern though. Is there any history to the quilt. An easy enough pattern to duplicate.

carolynjo 12-19-2015 06:44 AM

Well, the top is definitely a 9 patch; don't know about the bottom.

Looks like an anchor to me. Was there a relative in the Navy?

I agree with with Fastpetal and I can see the green stem. Such a unique quilt.

Don't have a name but very interesting

isue 12-20-2015 06:33 AM

Viking ship is my guess.

Yooper32 12-20-2015 06:48 AM

First word out of my mouth was "anchor".

maryellen2u 12-20-2015 11:28 PM

I really have no idea. That pink color fabric has turned up on some antique blocks I inherited. Instantly "Anchors Away" popped into my head. I can't wait to see what these knowledgeable quilters come up with. They always figure it out!

DOTTYMO 12-21-2015 12:04 AM

Anchors Away.

We asked for help in finding the name of this block. It is called "The Flower Pot Quilt Block". It was found in the Barbara Brackman Book of Blocks. Thanks for all your input. We sort of liked the Anchor idea, as well.

dorismae904 01-10-2016 11:10 AM

I can see the flowerpot but really like the anchor best.

ManiacQuilter2 01-10-2016 11:20 AM

Cool. It sure was a draw between the flower pot and the anchor. Glad you found the pattern.

SandyinZ4 01-10-2016 06:15 PM

I knew the members here would come through! :-) Nice to know about the old patterns.
