Is it possible to put borders on a chenille top before doing the chenille...I want to do the panel thing like here http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-133128-1.htm but I want it to be bigger, so thought would it be possible to put a border on the top panel to increase the size...sheeish sure hope I'm explaining this correctly.

Yes, but the borders would/should be also layered and chenilled.

Otherwise, you've got these flimsy borders with a really heavy center.

I'm sure you can find some coordinating fabrics to the panel to use.

The channels can go in different directions on different pieces (or even the same one.

i have seen multiple panels [or borders] put next to each other before the chenille-ing is done. you don't sew the two items together when layering over the larger chenille layers

QuiltinNan are you saying you don't sew the borders onto the panels? If this is so, what keeps the borders next to the panel?

I don't know if you can see it in the picture, but I made some shapes - a circle, triangle, etc (they're under John) with the channels going the opposite way.

You see some of the circle by his feet in the black square.

The bunny was done the same way by a friend.

If you did the borders in the opposite direction , i think it would be alot more interesting than the whole thing going in one direction.
