My 1st suggestion is to see if you can find a group or individual that hand quilts. That's the way I'm learning.
If not, youtube has tons of information on the subject. What I have learned is there is no hard and fast rule. Doubt I'll ever be able to make the tiny and consistent stitches I see in other's work. You know what? Doesn't matter. I'm enjoying the process. Hope you do too. |
Not one specific but I do love hand quilting and google!! LOL I googled hoop-less hand quilting and that's how I learned, picking bits of several videos.

There's a Craftsy class on hand quilting. I watched it and thought it was well presented. Otherwise there are you tube videos that are helpful. This is a link to a video by Elsie Campbell - there's no sound, but you can see how she stitches:

Some quilt shops offer classes on hand quilting and there are many good books to read up on it. I took a class using the two thimble method of hand quilting - that certainly saves your fingers! Also saw a hand quilting class offered on Craftsy.

Invest $20 in Diedre McElroy's DVD. It's an excellent tutorial not only how to stitch but fabric, batting, thimbles, frames, hoops, etc.
