Search the board for the qayg patterns (quilt as you go), you can also check on-line for patterns.

There are examples in the tutorials.

AGree with finding lots of patterns...quilt as you go...Even if you want to do a different block than you find in a pattern or tute, use their technique for doing seams and do your own blocks.

you make the batting the same size as the block. the backing, whatever you choose to use, should be 2 inchesl arger. or measure 1 inch larger on all 4 sides. (the make a ruler for this i think it is called the batting buddy, i think) then you quilt each piece, then join the squares when done. i did a quilt this way a few years ago..i will try to find the pictures of the steps..i may have them on webshots. here is the quilt i made..although it is a string quilt, same idea..

"Flip and stitch" same as QAYG

Do a Google search on Georgia Bonesteel. She has at least 2 books out on quilt as you go. She's the 'expert', so to speak.

Yup, quilt as you go is just what you are looking for. There are books on the subject too. Maybe you can find one at your local library, or they could get a copy for you on inter-library loan. Also check out Amazon.com for used books. You may find a good book there are a very reasonable price.

The sales lady in the Viking store inside JoAnne's is making a Christmas log cabin quilt as you go. Very nice.

LaceLady from the board is doing her DJ quilt this way, only she is doing it a bit different from most QAYG... you can check it out in her PDA

This is the one I want to try!

My first was Grandmothers Fan, from Georgia Bonsteel book Lap Quilting. You just have to leave a little space at the edges free of quilting so they can be sewed together.

I agree; have all her books - never have done the QAYG though.
