Can you use embroidery thread on Potatoe bags

I am making a few Microwave bags, I am embroidering the design on them, can I use the Rayon/Polylester thread or will that burn in a Miscrowave?

What I have read and understand is that anything that goes into the microwave must be 100% cotton.

I wouldn't use it because I wouldn't want to take a chance that it would burn. You could try a test piece in your microwave, if you dare.

Anything with poly will melt and then burn, so 100 percent cotton or 100 percent rayon ( 100 percent rayon can be a very weak fiber and difficult to sew with) .

The pattern I have used says several times that the thread and fabric have to be 100% cotton so that they won't melt or burn.

DON'T MAKE THE BAGS AT ALL! Have heard several times that the microwave can set the bag on fire! Use the fabrics for something safer.

My understanding also - the only thing I want cooking is the potato ...

From my personal experience over the years - and those of my friends - problems occur with potato bags is when:
1 - your microwave's glass carousel is dirty (the food or oil residue ignites or burns and in turn sets the bag afire)
2 - you did not use 100% cotton fabric, thread and batting
3 - the batting you used was not specifically "cleared" for use in the microwave - in other words, there's scrim or other crud in the batting itself that has a lower combustion temp that "food" batting.

Hello, I was wondering what you had decided to do. Did you ever make it and what kind of thread did you use and did it catch on fire?
