It's the best deal and I'm on my upteenth cone, that's a LOT of piecing! Love those cone holders that sit behind your machine... good investment.

I have the 6500 and use my cones all the time. I don't use anything special to hold it on. Perhaps it wasn't threaded through the top?

I do have the cone holders for my older Janomes but the newer ones have plenty of room in the back of the machine to hold the larger spools. Could you contact your dealer? They usually offer a lesson or two on how to use your machine.

I've had my 6500 for nearly 2 years now and I've never used a cone stand off to the side. I do have them for my Janome 6125 and 6019 though.

These are two cones I have on the back of my 6500. The cone on the right I just placed there to show the ones I use. The one on the left is one that's threaded through my machine now for piecing.
