I'm partial to the disappearing 9 patch. Use the light background in the corners, the dark on the sides, and maybe a fabric with the same color as the light background for the center. Or even a coral - would give it more southwestern. Ann

How about this one? http://quilterscache.com/A/Anvil2Block.html

Thanks so much for all your suggestions. Just when I think I've seen everything possible, more ideas are right around the corner! Now to make a decision and get cutting!

10 minute block uses 10 inch squares and pieces up FAST. You would only need one more fabric for the center. Look it up on u-tube.

You could make a template the size of the designs in your fabric and fussy cut the motifs. Then add strip borders to achieve the block size you would like to have. There are patterns that give an attic windows effect or a shadowbox effect that would enhance your motifs. The motifs are really cute and southwest.

I did this one for my niece a few years ago - I can not remember the name but it was VERY easy and showcased the fabrics. All it was - was a rectangle of the focus fabric with two strips of the background fabric added to the long edges to make it a square.

OMG that fabric is gorgeous....Moda did a line several years back with this kind of design, kind of southwestern, but not batiks....I have the whole collection put away to make a quilt for me. I was going to use a variation of Yellow Brick Road

They'd look great in a D9P done with large (6 to 8 inch) squares, with maybe a solid turquoise or brown for the center square.

When I saw your fabric, I immediately thought American Indian Tribal. Ditto what Otis said. also.

I second the Warm Wishes with the focus fabric changing row by row.
