Care of rag snips

I have the Fiskars Rag Snips.

I have made 2 rag quilts so far and have 6 more to go for Christmas gifts.

While using the snips, after awhile they start sticking, is there a maintenance care for these to prevent this?

TIA,

Sharon

I have the same question/problem

are they spring loaded? a tiny squirt of WD-40 might help- or a drop of sewing machine oil

They are spring loaded.

Miine were doing the same. From time to time I take a rag and wipe them off in the middle, of the blades I think the flannel sticks to them sight unseen and starts them to drag. I did apply some oil to the plastic parts but felt the problems were with the blades. Clear as mud?

I just wipe mine off when they start to stick and they work great again. Be careful of oil while you're doing your project, you wouldn't want that on the quilt.

I think the "sizing" or fabric starch on newly purchased fabrics tends to build up, at least that's what mine feel like. I use rubbing alcohol to clean them off with 2 or 3 times for one quilt.
