You'd be surprised. Have u ever tried paper piecing? maybe u should start with something easier and build up your confidence. if u want i could sent u a much easier free pattern that comes with the foundation paper for free and during a chat could talk u through it. I surprised myself, but it is an easier way of getting blocks that look hard but really aren't. I extend this to everyone on this thread who is afraid to try paper piecing something that they think looks 'too difficult.' just pm me

Since I'm a PP fanatic, I got this book when it first came out and I love, love, love it. Her stars are just gorgeous and can be completely different when you use different fabrics.

Last year one of the ladies at our retreat worked three days on a PP quilt. The blocks were all the same --mainly black with touches of bright colors. It was stunning. Friends were helping her rip off the paper and lo & behold, her tension was too loose and she wound up throwing it all away and starting over. Can you imagine that disappointment?
I bought the book yesterday and just have to figure out which star it was. She thought it was the Maine Star but that doesn't match what I have stored in my memory bank. The funny thing was, when I mentioned it to her she didn't even remember it at first. That's what I call really blocking out a bad experience.
I'm off to join the Carol Doak yahoo group (as soon as I finish unpacking from this year's retreat!!!)

I have this book too. Love it!! I've only made PA so far, and it was pretty sad. Have you done anymore?

I am taking a classin Delaware to make a queen sized quilt with these stars. Have seven made already. Not sure how to finish it up now. I love paper piecing--amazing what you can do!! Has anyone put together these squares to make a quilt. I am looking for ideas how to finish.

I have all the State Flower fabric and over time will have all 50 states done. Got the fabric about 10 years ago. No longer available.
