Cat proof pin cushion

My sewing kitty loves to pull pins from my pincushion. I had to remember to hide them every day. I was at Tuesday Morning and found a cardboard decorative tray with two lidded boxes. Covered in pretty floral paper. They were cute and cheap so i bought them. Then i had a brainstorm. I balled up some batting and wrapped it in flannel and stuffed some in each box. Now i have 2 pincushions on a tray and i can put the lids on when i'm not using them. Brilliant! At least i think so!

This is very clever! Good thinking. It would be handy to not have to hide my pin cushion. I may just have to do this too. Thanks. :)

My dog likes to grab my pincushion, too. I don't know why. But I also have to keep it put away and not leave it out for him to find. It's so important to protect our pets..... I don't want to have to take him to the vet and have xrays find sharp objects in his stomach..... that might be costly to him and my pocketbook.

I try to remember to put my pincushion out of reach of my dog. I'm afraid he will think it is one of his toys and his favorite toys are always the ones he 'discovers'. I keep his training bag in a hall closet and it has a couple of small toys in it that I use for training. He totally delights in raiding that bag if I leave the closet door open. And you are so right about the sharp objects. It could be costly to you and fatal to him.

Good idea. I've been finding pins and needles pulled out of my pincushion, in spits of the fact that the kitties aren't allowed on the table.

I bought a magnetic one that has a lid to it but I usually have too many pins to use the lid. it goes on the bottom while in use so it doesnt' get lost.
