How do you make and attach borders to a Cathedral Windows quilt? Several of you have posted pictures of CW quilts with borders, and I'd really like to know how you made them. Also, did you quilt those borders?

I'm sewing fleece as batting into each window pane (to make the quilt warmer) so I'd probably use fleece as batting for the borders. Just don't know how to proceed.

Thanks in advance for any and all advice you can share!

I've never seen a border on a CW quilt before.

One of the most beautiful I've seen - in fact the one that inspired me to think about adding borders - is the avatar of one of our QB members in Ireland. If only I remembered her name!

You tack down the outer triangles to the center, just like you do the other part of the window. Then sew a seam with the border fabric.

I wish I had taken a picture but I saw one a the Jacksonvill quilt Fest to day that had added Prairie Points to the edge. I am working on one for my granddaughter and I am going to add a wide ruffle. (She will be using it as a spread.)

Quilt as you go would work well here. Did not know how to do it when I made my quilt. I'm sure there are lots of different methods and board members will add their method. My method is that I added the borders to the top of the quilt first by machine. Cut batting and backing separate. Hand stitched them in place. Did not quilt. If doing it now I would quilt.
