I was just working on some blocks that involved chain stitching, and was watching Chelsea Lately and got done with my blocks only to realize that my machine was not threaded the whole time...SO i decided that must mean time for bed... boy did i feel dumb though LOL

burnsk 01-08-2010 10:45 PM

Been there, done that. LOL Geesh, did I feel like a dummy. Could have been worse and I don't even want to think about that.

momto4 01-08-2010 10:49 PM

LOL yes that is definitely true. There has been way too many nights to count where I have just kept sewing only to spend the next day taking out all of the stitches I messed up the night before hehe

cumberlandquiltchick 01-08-2010 10:50 PM

usually what happens to me is that I run out of bobbin thread about 2 miles back.... :( Sandra

Honey 01-09-2010 01:26 AM

The bobbin thing is what usually gets me, too. After I say a word or two, I fill my bobbin and start over. Then I look over my sholder to make sure no one saw me!!

patricej 01-09-2010 01:30 AM

that JUST happened to me! the top thread had broken and slipped out of the needle and i didn't even notice!

this is what happens to me too.

amma 01-09-2010 03:48 AM

LOL...usually for me it is the bobbin thread  :D:D:D

Up North 01-09-2010 03:55 AM

Used to happen to me too but my new machine beeps at me and won't sew if the thread is out. Sure is a lifesaver!

Elisabrat 01-09-2010 05:12 AM

I believe everyone here has done something like that. Usually its when you have had a tough time getting that one seam just right and suddenly ah.. finally its going smoothly only to remove your fabric and find) your out of thread. For me its bobbin thread every single time. and here I have removed pins as I was smartly sewing and feeling all so grand about my good job too. ARGH!

marsye 01-09-2010 05:32 AM

That NEVER happens to me!   ;)

CrystalKicks 01-09-2010 05:52 AM

Bobbin Thread for me too...

Olivia's Grammy 01-09-2010 05:53 AM

Did that last night. Pick up my blocks and still had 2 pieces. That's when I remembered I had run out of bobbin thread. I have a low bobbin reminder, but it dings so early that I tend to forget about it.

renee765 01-09-2010 06:39 AM

Sorry about the 'needle punching' exercise, but I like Chelsea Lately too.

sandpat 01-09-2010 06:48 AM

Duh....I've done that oh....how many times!!????

cande 01-09-2010 06:50 AM

That's happened to me more times than I can count, except it's usually an empty bobbin.

cabbagepatchkid 01-09-2010 06:51 AM

I usually have that happen with bobbin thread but every now and then the needle thread would break without my noticing it. It's a real pain when you are sewing clothes and that happens-- when you are putting in a sleeve, collar, etc and it took you awhile to pin it in "just so" to find that you have to go back to do it all over again

Minda 01-09-2010 06:58 AM

What is Chelsea Lately????

littlehud 01-09-2010 07:13 PM

I usually run out of bobbin thread. I just merrily sew along and then hold my head when I realize what I've done.

She is a late night comedian that has a talk show. Pretty damn funny but some may find her crude and offensive. She used to be on a show called "Girls Behaving Badly" which was really funny. Wish it still aired.

My Bernina usually lets me know when I don't have thread or when the thread breaks, but not when the bobbin runs out, but it continues to run. I was talking during a Ricky Tims seminar to some Bernina excecutives and asked for the ability of the machine to beep when the bobbin is out. My Brother embroidery machine stops when the bobbin is out or the thread breaks. They said they are working on it but don't know for when. I don't want to imagine the price when they do develop the technology.
