chalk lines
Will blue chalk lines come out of fabric when washed (on white fabric)?
|
I think it depends on the chalk and the fabric.
I have had lines made with the blue chalk in the Clover Chaco liner not come out and I have had the blue chalk from a pounce pad come out with no issues. |
It depends on the fabric and also what type of chalk it is, there is wax and clay that I know of, one is harder to get out of certain fabrics than others. Its best to do a test on a small area and see

I tried blue once. Do not remember what brand. Had a very rough time getting it out. When I have to mark on white fabric now, I use a soft pencil.
|
In my experience, nope. Try it on a scrap and see how it launders for you. Also keep in mind that if you stitch over it, it may come out of the fabric but dye the thread.

Dilute the dark blue with baby powder or white chalk so t is not so dark, and check it.
Use cinnamon instead of blue chalk and check it. |
I had a friend that had a bad experience with it.
Make sure you read the manufacturer's label for removal instructions! I have one marker that washes out with water but is made permanent by ironing. I have another that disappears with ironing. You don't want to mix those two up.... |
I've had problems with both the blue and the pink chalk. I mark lightly with a pencil now too.
|
I use only white chalk after a bad experience with blue chalk. Luckily it faded so only I could see it.

Try the Multi-Pastel chalk pencils in white and light grey. The dark gray works also. Made by General Pencil Co.
