ok so since all my friends decided to leave me after college, i'm stuck in chucktown, SC all by my lonesome. So i figured that i would join the quilt guild, but i looked on their web-site and they have a ton of members. can anyone tell me if it is worth joining or just keep bugging my mom to move down here so i have a friend :)

I don't know, but I say go and try it out. It's the only way you'll really know if you like it!

get out there and find a quilt class or sewing class and meet new people. I find it is good to have friends in all age groups not just ones my age. If you want to have friends be friendly.

There is someone out there that is lonely and would love to have you as a friend. Also, this board is a great place to find encouragement. :)

there is a fantastic quilt shop down in the historic district. they also have another store in a closeby location.

People, Places and Quilts
on Henrietta street, in the historic district of Charleston.

two of the nicest ladies you will ever want to meet.
gorgeous fabrics, nice selection ...

very important - convenient hours. they are open until 5 on saturdays!

here's their website:

the ladies there are sweetie-pies and they have a great sales room. stop by there and talk to them. i'll bet they'll make you feel welcome and can tell you all about the guild. :-)

Yes I finally joined you will really like it. I was so against my guild because of a couple rude people. After hearing such wonderful stories on here I decided to just do it and join! You will also find some small groups to quilt with so go for it!!

I think Cobblestone Quilters is a great guild. The new web address is http://www.cobblestonequilters.com There is a big quilt show coming February 28 - March 1, 2014. The theme is A Quilter's View of Charleston. More Info: http://cobblestonequilters.com/show2014.htm

Guilds are like large churches. If you go and sit and don't participate, you won't get much out of it. The friendships develop in the small group settings. So if you decide to join, watch a while, then get involved.

In that large group is another person who is destined to be your quilting buddy. . . Meeting for coffee and sharing next project or getting together to sew and have some good music playing. Helping each other cram to get that present done for birthday the next day. And to go material shopping. A few years down the road you will realize the two of you became three or four or five who meet on your own, outside the guild. Blessings.
