Charm Packs - Monthly

Got an email from on-line fabric shop - Clotide, on their Charm Pack Club where you get 40 charm packs each month for 9.98 + 3.95 shipping. Has anybody else ever got these, are they good quality, and are you using up the charms? Or, do you have a drawer full of charm packs waiting for the right pattern to come along?

I have never gotten those from that company. However, I prefer to order the daily deals from Missouri Star Quilt Company. I like to preview them. Also they are usually on sale.

OOPS! I think you meant 1 charm pack of 40 - 5" x 5 " squares per month. I got this email too. It says that it is "Premium Name Brand" fabric but I don't know exactly what that means. Also, it is $9.98 plus $3.95 shipping EVERY month for a total of $13.93. I think if you didn't care what fabrics you were getting and didn't mind paying more for this option, then it would be a good idea for you. I know that the charm packs of Moda at my LQS are 9.95. I have some control issues as I like to pick my fabrics so this would not be something I would subscribe to!

Charm packs and all pre-cuts are always 20% off at craft town fabrics

I only buy charms on sale or from Connecting Threads.
They come in handy and some are really nice to have. Ive made several quilts from charms but you need at least 3 packs of the same charms for a lap size. Then you need to match for borders from your stash if the line is no longer available.
It is also nice to use them as a sample before ordering a fabric line since ordering online is not as good as seeing the actual fabric. I like to do this with Connecting Threads since their charms are so reasonable.

I think that's too much to pay for a charm pack. You can get them cheaper. Also you're paying nearly 50% of the price of the charm pack for postage.

ive ordered their fabric packs before and theyre great however i think if there wasnt a theme involved like keepsake quiltings fabric clubs you might wind up with stuff you wouldnt use. theres tons of cool patterns for charms and theyre handy to have around to throw together a quick baby quilt or a lap for a gift.

Lots of good ideas here, I think I will shop around until I find a better deal on charm packs then Clotide, thank you everyone for your suggestions. DonnaB
