Another thread got me wondering if pinked edges on charm squares are better than straight-cut edges... or if it makes any difference to you?

I personally think that pinked are better, they don't ravel.

The only ones I've used were Moda pinked edges and they were a dream to work with! If I could afford it, I'd use them all the time.

I like the pinked edges because they don't seem to ravel. I used charms from Connecting Threads and they did ravel a little, but I loved the feel of their fabric. So, I would say I prefer pinked edges over straight.

I guess I am the odd one....I like the straight!

I haven't found much of a difference. They both unravel a bit when washing before useing

I prefer straight as well.

I like straight edge better too. I just think they are easier to line up.

When I learned to sew, we pinked the edges on just about everything so it doesn't matter to me one way or the other. I'd say neither is better, they're just different. :D

some people have complained about the pinked edges on on precut, but if you tend to prewash your fabrics it makes it tons better! they do not ravel/fray. the complaints come from people feeling they are being (shorted) but i bet if you take a charm cut straight, and a charm pinked, wash them both, the one pinked is going to come out larger, because it will not fray. you may need to use a scant 1/4" instead of a full 1/4".
