I wanted to begin today, but the heat wave is interfereing with our power this week. We're having outages and half power sessions. I will begin Friday morning, God willing and the creek don't rise.

My thoughts were to have a morning chat, for those available, about subjects to be decided or just general chat of quilting. I'm an early riser usually, so thought a morning would be better. 9 to 10 or so. If the message show an evening time is better for more of you, then we'll rethink the plan.

The feeling I had was to not have it daily yet, only on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Leaving Boo with the Sunday afternoon time frame. How does this sound? I shared my willingness with Konstantin and he's going to share the news through the newsletter to everyone and I really hope we can get this going so that everyone gets to know one another and shares even more of our love of quilting.

I'll meet those available to share their thoughts on Friday morning, the 10th, at 9:00 AM. Hope to see you there!

Sharon

i can't be there because i'm at work. HOWEVER, i hope lots of people take advantage of your generosity. If I happen to be off on one of the chat mornings, i will certainly try to drop by. :P

P.S. I'm not hinting for a change/addition of evening chats. By the time I get home, my poor little brain is fried. You couldn't count on me to participate ... unless my snoring online is acceptable to everyone else.

mimisharon 08-08-2007 06:35 AM

Snoozing online is acceptable! Sure was hoping my favorite expert would take on an evening or two of chat........would you think about maybe a Tuesday or Wednesday??? Just one evening to begin with? I know everyone would have lots to say to YOU!

patricej 08-08-2007 07:05 AM

well ... nothing like puttin' me on the spot!!!!

i would like to volunteer to moderate a regularly scheduled chat. the problem is that i often don't have any energy left after work and way too much to do in not enough time on the weekends. i'm afraid to make a commitment then let people down if i'm not up to the task at the appointed time.

for now, i need to not make promises i'm not sure i can keep. but, if i know i'm going to be off when you're chatting, i'll offer ahead of time to be on hand if there's some specific topic to which folks think i can contribute.

ok?

Norah 08-08-2007 07:31 AM

Sharon, is that 6AM here in CA? What is you time difference? I think it is 3 hours. I will join you when I am up and my husband is not. Otherwise, I have coffee with him. He always leaves here by 8 and leaves me here alone. Boo hoo.

patricej 08-08-2007 07:50 AM

sooooo ... the pool boy shows up at 8:15?

Norah 08-08-2007 07:59 AM

To tell you the truth, I haven't noticed. Too busy quilting.

Suz 08-08-2007 08:16 AM

I can't make it either. I go to "Peppi" for an hour exercise program on M/W/F, 10-11. I go early and get in about 20-30 minutes of just walking before class. Have to keep the old "bod" moving.

I watch and see if another time is suggested. Suzanne

sewmuch 08-08-2007 08:36 AM

I will try and be there on Friday, like Norah am on the West coast and
I think there is a 3 hour time difference. So if I am up at 6 will sign in. :)

Suz 08-08-2007 09:43 AM

Didn't I read about an icon that will show if someone is in the Chat Room? I often check when I come to the forum, but never seem to catch anyone home.

9am Friday there is 1am Saturday here, so that prob leaves me out, might be able to join in an evening one though. Can't commit to hosting anything at the moment cause I don't know what's happening next and like Patrice would hate to let anyone down.

Knot Sew 08-08-2007 02:31 PM

Well, I think I'll be there in less I forget. That is eastern time?

Yvonne 08-08-2007 03:41 PM

Sharon,
I would so love to join in your group discussions but like Norah and Sewmuch have mentioned, it's a tad early for us Californians. I gave up doing early mornings when I retired. I'll peek in and see if your still going at it when I finally wake up though. Talk long enough I'll come play!

P.S. Thank you for offering to head up a discussion group. :D

mimisharon 08-08-2007 03:57 PM

OK, sorry Patrice, I wouldn't put you on a spot......hard to get off them! I really am sorry!!!

mimisharon 08-08-2007 04:04 PM

OK, yes, 9 AM EDT here on the east coast........I'm willing to make later in the day to accomidate the most. I'd be willing to set it at whatever time everyone would like, just give me suggestions. It's so hard to catch anyone there, I've been in and it's empty for me, too.

Suggestions y'all?? I am thinking about the evening, but for me it's normally way to late by the time y'all finish dinner, settle in to the puter, I'm in the sleep zone by 10.

We're going to get there!!

Norah 08-08-2007 04:13 PM

10 or 11 EST is good for me, too. I'm still drinking coffee and tilting a needle then......but I can share the coffee with anyone on here!
:-)

Norah 08-08-2007 04:23 PM

That's a go for me :!: :!: :D :D :D :D

SaraSewing 08-08-2007 04:26 PM

I'll try to join then too. (except when I've been working night shift. That is middle of the 'night' for me.). An organized time is a great idea. Do you have topics that you will introduce to get thing started, or topics when we need a change of gears? Thanx for starting this. Sara

Norah 08-08-2007 04:30 PM

What day are we starting? I will be at my son's on Friday, but if you start then, I will try to borrow his computer. I'll be there Monday for sure.

live2teach 08-08-2007 06:12 PM

I will try to be on any day that I am actually home and can. I'd love to chat. Just let me know when you are starting! :D

Okay here's the thing. I've never been in a chat room before how does it work and do you need a high speed connection? I am so not computer savvey. thanks for your help.
Becky

Norah 08-09-2007 08:00 AM

I have a dial up with a slow connection and have been able to participate most of the time with that. There is a connection at the top of every page that says Live Chat. Click on that and it will take you to the page. All you have to do then is put your name in the box, and type like crazy!! Hope to see you in there.

Becky Robinson 08-09-2007 08:05 AM

Norah thanks for the infor! I'll try to be there. I've got load one in the washer and soon to do the second, if I get my work done today then tomorrow I can play! Becky

Norah 08-09-2007 08:10 AM

Get to working, Girl! Tomorrow will be fun!

mimisharon 08-10-2007 08:29 AM

Well, it went pretty well for over two hours. People in and out as they could. We talked about a variety of subjects,

Quilting Rooms
Quilting Desks
Slash and Stash
Batiks
Stained glass
Scenery quilting

I'll open a chat again Monday morning at 10 EDT. I can stay about 2 hours at a time without my back going out completely.

Please PM me with an evening that would be good for you, I would be willing to hostess one evening a week with the three mornings. But I need a general time and day. The more messages I get, the easier to decide on an evening and time.

Thank you all for sharing with us this morning, I look forward to seeing you all and more!

live2teach 08-10-2007 08:32 AM

What? There was a chat today? For some reason I thought we were starting Monday. Darn it! I'll be there next time! :D
