Make a quick and easy quilt and most don't know the difference in that it is printed. Very useful for quick charity quilts. Can even use them to do machine or hand quilting as you would any patchwork or applique quilt,

This is totally new to me. I thought they were only blocks you could buy. This is an awesome sight and I am thinking of getting some just to use in my beginners Handstitching classes. They can practice all they want. Thanks so much for the site. :)

Yeah -- I do wonder. Particularly when some of the backings are real cheap.

There are times when I love the panels -- don't consider them cheating since the affects are usually more detailed than I could ever piece.

I like the concept of pre-printed whole cloth for making quilts, especially for bed quilts that will be heavily used and washed. I have begun a search. What I have found is that it is difficult to find quality cotton fabric in the cheater cloth (a term I don't like, but the one we all recognize.) I also find that colors are sometimes dull without crisp definition. Part of the problem is also that a limited number of colors are used which results in a lack of depth. In my search, I have found that vintage cheater cloth can have better colors, crispness, definition and sometimes even better fabric. But the quality vintage pieces are very hard to find in quilt size. They are more common in smaller scrap sizes. I don't see pre-printed bed quilt size cloths designed and manufactured by the mainstream companies like Moda, so fabric quality and design can be assured. Because I don't have a local brick and mortar shop nearby that sells cheater cloth, I have to rely on online shopping. Without actually seeing the fabric in person, I am wary that I will be disappointed with lack of quality. Have any of you run into the same problems? And have any of you found a reliable source?

I cannot speak for the quality of the specific 90" "Quilt top prints" (sounds better than cheater cloth), but I've received great quality fabrics from Marshall Dry Goods. At $4/yard, they are worth checking out. (Don't let the low price scare you, they have a lot of "known" fabrics for inexpensive prices).

I have to say that I have never considered panels to be "cheater fabric". I thought that term only applied to yardage printed with a pieced quilt pattern. I certainly don't think panels should fall into this category in any way.
