Chevron quilt help with quilting

I need to quilt a chevron quilt made with 2 1/2" strips. I just want to do straight line in the ditch quilting along each chevron across the quilt. So do I stitch in the ditch across and then turn the quilt and stitch in the ditch all the way back to the other side? I don't want distortion so I didn't know if I have to stitch one way across and then reverse stitching to go back to the other side or can I just quilt in the ditch in one direction, left to right, for the complete top?

Hope I've explained myself ok. Thanks for any suggestions you can give.

I would do one way and go back, and use your quilting/walking foot to help keep the fabric from moving. Good luck.

It is oh so tempting when you have the quilt all set up, to quilt all the rows in one direction. Although it is a pain, go in opposite directions every other row or the quilt will end up askew. A walking foot will help as well. I don't know which chevron pattern you used but if you are quilting on the bias be careful not to stretch your top as you quilt.
