Chevron Quilt

I want to make a chevron quilt. Which is better: the chevron quilt made with half square triangles or the made with with strips?

Thanks for your input!

The triangles you have to watch the bias edges. I think the one made from rectangles would be easier.

I'm making one using HST. I like to cut my HST bigger and trim them down to square them up.

I'm not really great at doing HST so I made a baby quilt from this free pattern http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.ca/20...ithout_30.html

This looks so much easier than using HSTs. I have some fabric that is begging to be made in to a Chevron quilt and I am going to use this method. Thanks for posting.

I also used this method for a baby quilt http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...n-t258210.html I found it easy to do.

I used very large HSTs (6 or 6 1/2 inches each, I don't remember exactly). But I wanted my Chevrons to be large. I did the two HSTs from a square where you don't cut them apart until after you sew the diagonal seams and it turned out great!!

Attached is a pic of the finished quilt.

I did both one right after the other, then wrote up my experience here:

I prefer the 1/2 square triangle method and will use that on future chevron quilts.
