Chevron Quilts - which die to use?

I have been looking at patterns to make a Chevron quilt. Thinking 10 inch blocks. My question is...I have a Die cutter so would like to know which die is the best for making the quilt. I have seen it made so many ways. Rail pattern, sewing two blocks together all away around than cut, triangles die etc..has anyone made with using the accuquilt dies? Any recommendation on which is the better die to use and why?

I can't comment on the dies since I've never used any die cutters, but I made 2 using different methods and wrote a comparison of my experience with both methods. Personally, I prefer the 1/2 square triangle method. Here's a link to my previous post.

I don't know about the dies, but if there is one for a parallelogram, I would recommend that. (I currently use self-made templates).

Thank-you! That was a really good comparison. I think I am going to try using the triangle die to make mine.

I think I have a parallelogram die also. maybe I will do two of them and compare. Do you think it would be less stretchy than doing half square?

Parallelograms

I don't know if it would be more or less stretchy- probably the same level. You get a different look. You use half-square triangles on either end of the parallelogram, but the straight of grain is always on the outside edges of the block. I don't think it's stretchy.
More time consuming, yes, and not the method for everyone.

Never thought of using parallelogram, just HST. I think P chevron is less " pitched" than HST, but I may be wrong....

Oh thank you for the picture! I was wondering how you would sew the parallelogram.

That was really interesting and helpful. I was about to make one with the rectangle method because I hate dealing with triangles but I am wondering now if the triangle method would be easier.

Use the biggest HST you have.. you need one light and one dark......
