I'm making those wonderful chicken pincushions. BUT how the heck do you get those tails sewn on? I'm having a dickens of a time!

Please post a picture of what they look like...it might be easier to help you if we know what type you're making. I love chicken pincushions as well. Aren't they just the cutest? :)

Ha,
I spent a good part of one daying trying to figure that out, too. Finally, I kept turning that square around until I saw what I had to do. Don't know if you can follow what I did, but when you get to that point, you will have sewn the tail part to the square and then you match OPPOSITE sides together and sew those and this forms the base that makes it stand up,. Hard to explain and even the pictures didn't make it easier for me. Instead of just sewing the two bottom edges, you sew with the tail tucked inside. Fiddle with it until you see how to make it work. Hope this is clearer than mud. HA

Umm. Not exactly. I put the thing together, insert the tail and partially sew it on. Then I fill. THEN TRY to sew the thing shut. Trouble is even using my zipper foot doesn't help. I end up hand sewing it closed.

For one thing, you leave one of the seams open for a couple of inches so that you can stuff it, or fill it with sand or whatever then sew that section together last after it's filled.

i leave a bottom seam open and sew the tails in with the chicken inside out. turn it. stuff it. hand sew the bottom closed. hth
