Children's fabric for charity

I was very fortunate to have received a sizable donation of quality fabric with fabrics of interest to children. Most are large scale animal motifs. My small quilt group would like to use some of it to make projects for local children. We had thought of the million pillowcase project but don't know how to get in touch with a local group. Or we could make something else. I am seeking suggestions on how to use this beautiful fabric for local children. We are in the San Francisco Bay Area. Any ideas would be appreciated.

what if you make pillowcases and take them to the children's hospital or Ronald McDonald house

Check out Project Linus - there might be a chapter in your area.

Maybe check with your Dept of Human Services. A child being taken into foster care could use a pillowcase to "pack" and then have something special for their bed in the foster home.

Our group makes quilts for a local hospital. For babies in the NICU, or the pedeatrics ward. Contact a local hospital, it can be a small or large one.

Family services can always use children's quilts because when children are removed from bad situations they often come away with nothing of their own. A small quilt is something that belongs to them and becomes very special.

There are some great ideas here. I will look into them all especially the Dept. of Human and Family Services agencies. I appreciate your help.

I'm in Petaluma and I work with Project Linus. Your fabric sounds perfect for what we do. Here's a link to California chapters (you can scroll down to San Mateo County):
