I was lucky enough to obtain some cotton fabric samples. :-D
These are described as 100% cotton glazed chintz - and are Made in England. About 1960's vintage. I think they are curtaining fabric and are only just heavier than quilting cotton, with a shiny surface - shinier than polished cotton. Would they be suitable for a quilt? I have enough to make about 3/4 large quilts, and I am very tempted to use them. What do you think. |
I would go for it. Would be a bit of a cow to handquilt, but maybe tie or machine quilt (I'm thinking you may need a denim needle). I think those polished chintz fabrics are stunning...Pics would be very cool.

yes you can use them but i would wash and dry them first

I also have another daughter who goes through them until they are rags. She is a clean freak and washes them almost every week. I have to re-sew every seam at least twice, sometimes three times if it looks weak. Ha Ha, my seams are still there, but the material wears thinnnn. Syl |
Those are beautiful fabrics. Go for it and share with us when you get the quilt done.
