Is there a pattern that you really like? Do you think most any pattern could have the snap added? I haven't made a purse yet but it's on my list of things to do.

I am not sure about adding this to just any purse but look over the link and see what you think...

I am thinking about making denim rag quilts for my20 yr old boys. I have saved all their old jeans for this, so the cost should be minimal.

Craftybear where do you get the clear vinyl?

dream56 09-17-2010 05:20 AM

I buy my clear vinyl at Walmart in the fabric section (since ours still has it)

Have you seen the cakes or pies baked in a jelly/canning jar? They seal from the heat of baking; look precious with a little seaonal fabric round under the ring of the jar.

TrenaM 09-17-2010 09:37 PM

Laura.....I would love your recipe!

TrenaM 09-17-2010 09:39 PM

LOVE THIS IDEA....I AM NOT FEELING SO OVERWHELMED NOW!

sewnsewer2 09-18-2010 03:07 AM

How about shower wraps? They make great gifts for everyone.

MISHNJIM 09-18-2010 04:21 AM

Try your thrift stores, doggie bag store, ect for flannel 1/2 price. I got a great big piece of Green/Black for $1.00, and am going to make our son a housecoat.
We draw names for Christmas, so I am going to make it for him in exchange for the jobs he does for us around the house. Is that bribery or what!!!
Mariah

Mariah 09-18-2010 10:54 AM

P.S... Our doggie bag also has patterns for like a dime. Try your thrifts; I was amazed at what all they have.
Mariah.

Sue, I am so not a gourmet! I actually just used a cake mix (or any recipe) and baked them like cupcakes in the tiny little canning jars (sometimes I use cupcake liners - they look very festive through the quilted glass jars with coordinating fabric on top!). I did worry about whether the glass jars would crack, so I baked them on a jelly roll pan with just a little water in it (about 1/2") - I figured if custard cups could take it, the canning jars could too.

I did google 'cake baked in a mason jar' - haven't finished reading it all yet! But got a couple of good links for you -

I use them for 'favors' - make King cakes for our Mardi Gras party, this year I think I'll make fruit cake - because for most of us, that's more than enough!, we've used them at bridal and baby showers, just whatever. They're fun and easy.

I'm so sorry! I just posted my reply to Sue Fish's page!

Not only am I not much of a gourmet, I'm not much of a computer tech either!

for those of you who like recipes there are two great online groups to join. You will find recipes for everything under the sun.

They are both yahoo groups. One is recipelu and the other is friendly freezer.

Recipelu is a bit of everything and the freezer one is mostly cooking meals to keep in the freezer. The Once A Month cooking type recipes.

From these two groups I have gotten recipes for homemade gifts like bath salts, skin care products, doggie treats...you name it. They are both prolific so be prepared for a lot of emails. Or you can opt to just view on the website.

I recommend both highly!
