I think tote bags are a good idea. easy to make in any fabric. sports for the men.
besides, everyone goes food shopping and can use one for books or whatever.

What about those microwave bags for baked potatoes?

The little holders for the small packages of Kleenex went over well with a ladies group that I belong to. I got the idea/instructions to make them from someone on this board. I am not very good with a computer to direct you to the site, but if you type in tissue holder the site will probably come up.

I love the tissue pkg holders, too!

The question wasn't about money, it was about giving of herself. She wants her co-workers to think if her when they use what ever she makes. For all we know, she does give to charities, etc but that's a different topic. I have money taken out of my paycheck each payday but still want to do something special that comes from me, not a store that shows someone I care enough to not only buy the materials but put in the work to make them something. Like the uncle, when ever he uses his, he thinks of her. Mug rugs are a great idea. I've even seen some that were designed based on a cup someone bought at the Dollar Store and given as a set, you can even put a pocket on it for tea bags or creamers, etc. Or personalize them with something special that the person might be into. They can be made out of chalkboard fabric, include chalk and then while drinking morning coffee they can doodle or make out a to do list for the day. So many possibilites. I work for a not for profit hospital so I'm all about giving but I also love when others get excited when I give them something that I make. I have a few friends who love biscotti but can't figure out how to make it so I always give that during the holidays. You could do a candy or cookie dish or a casserole holder and put goodies in them. So many possibilites out there on top of giving of yourself.

One year I've made Xmas ball ornaments that look like Ukrainian Easter eggs, using 1inch squares, folding like a flying geese pattern and pinned in a foam ball.. Packaged it into an empty chocolate box 6 to 8 per box and gave as gifts. They were well liked, and inexpensive to make, made some for my tree, and now making for [email protected] site. Watch for them near Xmas time.

Great ideas for Christmas! I don't think it is too early to be thinking along those lines. Last minute doesn't work for me like it used to. :D:D:D

I love giving little gifts throughout the year or for someone's birthday. I always try to make sure it is useful too! Just something little makes them feel special! I give to different charities throughout the year also. I applaud your efforts on this. Sometimes it is the little things that mean the most. The little fabric baskets posted on project of month is neat, nylon scrubbies is always welcome, men and women can use those. I put 2 or 3 in a little bag with a note of 101 different uses of scrubbies. ( you can goggle it). Oh so many ideas. I love the little things and giving!

I have just started thinking about this for the same reason. My hurry up and get it done last minute has gone! Last year I made totes for Mom and mini totes for the kids, gift card holders made like a snap purse, and potholders shaped like an ornament. This year I think I'll make some knitting project bags to start with.
