I am making my husband (or at least it is on the list & at the top)a marine lap quilt. Everyone gets cold in the winter & like to curl up and watch tv with their blankie! I am making my son, a bowling pillowcase as he loves to bowl. Also, a couple of golf towels that he will love. I love the remote control holder idea.

well I think they beat me to all of my ideas. I love home made gifts. Pillowcases in flannel is one of my favorite.
I like to do a pillow case for someone that is sick or in the hospital or recovering. Quilt some and paint some to personalize. Sign it and date it. Everyone loves them!
And pot holders are also a favorite, fun to make and fun to receive.
Also love the neck warmers!

My 35 yr old son has never been excited about the quilts I've made, so I never made any for him. But one time I finished a watercolor wall hanging for a friend, and he actually said that he really liked it and wouldn't mind having a quilt like that. What I realized is that it wasn't a quilt he resisted, it was the traditional patterns. When I showed him pictures of patterns that were more 'modern' he really liked them. I wonder if this is the case for others who don't get excited by quilts?

You make a Great Point here. We should figure out what the recipient would *like* before we spend $$$ and hours making something for them. Thank you
