Went to Walmart last night, they had no Christmas fabric. I asked the sales person she said they haven't got any in yet. I think I had problems getting Christmas fabric, about this time last year. Wonder why they wait so long to get it out on the shelves. They had tons of other fabric............Michele

That seems strange as our Walmart has had Christmas fabric out for months......

A lot of the Walmart stores are in the process of putting fabric back into their stores...maybe they just weren't thinking "Christmas"...

I should go to Walmart more for fabrics, Im spending too much on it elsewhere. But who can resist cute fabric!

One of ours has had it for quite awhile. Not sure about the other one which is just putting fabric in their store.

We have always had a fabric dept. in our Wal-mart. Their fabric moves really well. As of last week, most all their Christmas fabric was sold out. Just little pieces left on a few bolts. About a month ago they were well supplied, though.

JoAnns has tons already.

Ours has had it out for awhile but not much.

Our Walmart in Central NJ is also waiting for their Christmas fabric shipment.

Our Wal-mart has some Christmas fabric, but not all that much. Maybe 10 bolts or so. I wonder if they are afraid to invest too much in such a seasonal fabric. Other fabric that doesn't sell can set around a long time, but Christmas fabric in July is not cool.

I don't think they "think" period. It was pretty obvious to me to me that the idiot in charge of my store is a guy. Now don't get me wrong. I don't think all guys are idiots. Just my WM manager. He has changed our store around 3 times in the past 5 years. You have to go on a treasure hunt to find anything. Related items, such as ingredients for baking, are not together in the grocery department The "craft" area where the precuts were, was picked clean except for a few FQ. I kept sticking notes on the empty metal holders and asking them when they were going to restock. Finally after almost 2 months they got precuts back in. They are stiff and not pretty at all. Guess I'll have to keep driving for my fabric. Our WM is only interested in tourist dollars and don't care about the locals. That is OK. I have quit going to WM from 2-3 times a week to 1-2 times a month. I'd rather spend my money somewhere else. I sure miss Sam.

Our Walmart does have their Christmas fabric out, but not a big selection, however, they are already stocking their shelves with Christmas candy???

Out Walmart put Christmas fabric out several weeks ago. But they had very little Halloween and no fall fabric.

Our Walmart took the fabric department out totally. No news if they are going to put it back in.

Our Joanns is still closed from Irene and our Walmart does not carry Fabric yet and none of there staff I spoke to seemed to know anything about them getting it back. Thank goodness the is Ebay and quilt shops on line so I can purchase Fabric.

Same here. We've had Xmas fabric for about two months. Not a big choice........about 10 to 12 selections. They weren't very inspiring. Doesn't anyone in their corporate sewing section sew?

In Ohio, our Walmart has had out the Christmas fabric since they started putting the fabric department back in the store about 2 months ago. I have been making quilted Christmas decorations for the last two weeks.

Yesterday I stopped by the Walmart in our town that still carries fabric. I don't shop there very often and was disappointed in the selection and quality. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood. No Christmas fabric and just odd bolts that didn't coordinate with anything. Won't go out of my way to stop again anytime soon.

Our WM took out all the sewing notions except just what was needed. To get any embroidery floss you have to go out of town. They keep saying the fabric department was returning and it has been out about two years. STILL WAITING.

Our WM never lost it's fabric and they put out the Christmas fabrics quite a while ago. I haven't been back in for a couple of weeks but they still had a pretty good amt when I checked last. I think it depends on who does the ordering. If the person who orders for the fabric dept doesn't sew, they may not order what people who DO sew would. Just a thought.

Our Christmas fabric came out in late Aug or early Sept.

So has ours-they even have Valentines fabric already

It's kind of late for Christmas fabrics to be arriving... the mills print them so they are ready in May, June and July.

Maybe you ladies should try to "educate" your Walmarts (fabric depts)? How many people DO NOT realize that quilters are getting their projects ready for Christmas in summer...and early fall?

Quilters who put their quilts/table toppers...etc into the county/state fairs have their projects completed by JULY. So since it sounds like not all Walmarts are the same try just having a talk with whom EVER is in charge of the fabric dept at your local WM stores. If they aren't quilters.. they have no clue.

That's a bummer. Our Walmarts here have the xmas fabric and also I just came across pre-cuts at Walmarts. The price is very reasonable.

Makes no sense not to have Christmas fabric out. Sounds like the person does not really know and made something up. I would be really nervous if I didn't have a Christmas present done by now - or at least have the fabric. More power to you if you are starting now. A lot of Web sites are clearancing Christmas fabric.

Our Walmart has not returned our fabric dept.They seem to not know if it will return, so I have given up with WM.....don't even shop there anymore...

I think Walmart has put a bandaid on all the protesting no fabric in stores where the need is the greatest; our fabric section in the closest Walmart to me is a storage place for pallets of things going out on the floor to be put on display - so one has to step around and through the pallets to look at what fabric there is. At first I felt they were just using the space temporarily, but 6 months of the same-o, same-o tells me they just don't care!

I've complained, but not to the manager, but it seems they just are doing what they want to do - and to heck with teh consumer; otherwise teh store is fairly neat - so why just the fabric department?

They know all quilters are crazy and we'll wait.
