I did Autumn/ Fall. On one side and Winter pine ones and snow on the other. I made a second one with winter birds for January and reversed to hearts for Feb, the third was green shamrocks for March and pastels for Easter.

I do make table runners in Christmas fabric for gifts, but I also like to back them with fabric that can be used for another holiday and/or something that could be used year round. I've also made table runners using snowmen fabric or winter inspired fabric - that way it can be used until spring, and then with a backing of springtime fabric, so it can be used longer.

I am wanting to make a couple of table runners for Christmas gifts for an Aunt and a neighbor. Would you make it in Christmas fabric (thinking that Christmas would already be over when they opened their gift) or would you make something that could be used year round??????
I know this is a personal preference~ I just want to see how many of you tend to go each way! Thanks :) |
The only time I make Christmas Themed things are for me. I want things that I make for gifts to be able to use all year long.
|
I would do a neutral theme to be used any time of the year for anything.
|
I would make it something they could use year round. I know that's what I would like.

I have 2 table runners. One is winter and spring other is summer and autumn.
|
I think something that can be used year round is nicer - that is just my own opinion - however I love Christmas and all the decorating - but I only use my "Christmas" stuff during that time - it would be nice to get a gift that can be used other times.

I'm also going to make some runners for Christmas and had the same question........these are such good ideas.
I like the reversible one the best. So I better get cracking.......I have 4 grown children and have just finished making them 2 sets of pillow cases each. All from my stash! Now for the runners. |
I have made gifts for Christmas and used snowman or snowflake fabric. Then they can use it all Winter.
|
I have held on to many Christmas themed "handmade" gifts and look forward to putting them out each year... it's like tradition. You could make them a year-round topper for their birthday. :)
