My husband is giving me a new sewing machine for Christmas. My machine is a 40-year old singer still runs great - but it is time for a new one. HELP!! I didn't realize how many types, styles, models, and PRICES there are. I love to make quilts and tablerunners. I would like to do some my own finish work instead of sending it to a quilter. I would also like to do a little embroidery but most of all I want it to quilt and eventually put it in a quilting frame to do larger projects.
Do any of you good folks have suggestions as to a good quality machine between $1000.00 and $1500.00

I would go to a place local to you & test run their machines. You want someone you can go back to when something goes wrong.

I like Janomes but everyone differs in their opinion. DJ is right, go try out some different machines. Most LQSs have a brand that they sell and will have demos. Don't be afraid to go for a more expensive machine that's been traded in. They've been checked out and are fully functional. Most will come with some type of warranty even though they're used.
