I am making quilts as main presents, but I also have a stash of novelt pot holders (owls, cupcakes, etc.) and a four-sided placemat for each of the grandkids (each of the four sides is fabric they picked out of my stash - "Which four of these fabrics do you reallyreallyreally like?" - during their last visit earlier this summer.

What's nice about the four-sided placemat is that it can be made round also - and it works very well as a table centerpiece or (if made longer) a four-sided table runner.

I love getting homemade gifts! Having said that, I think when I give a homemade gift it is not appreciated by someone who doesn't have a clue as to the time and money spent on the gift.

I'm tired of spending my time for gifts that aren't appreciated. I'll make charity kids quilts instead.[/quote]

No thank you, no more gifts!

I make gifts for lots of people, we are retired so anything I can do to save some money, I do. I found a little table topper pattern that is very simple and I am making them for several people on my list.

When I made the quilts for my 11 y.o. twin boy/girl grandchildren they were ecstatic. My grandson was so overcome with the love of it that he had tears and wrapped himself up in it immediately. My granddaughter followed suit.

My children always look forward to the homemade gifts from my husband and I. He usually makes something of wood and occasionally paints a picture. I, of course, do quilted things.

My children say the homemade gifts are the highlight of the holiday!

When my mother died, I was blessed to get her clothing. I have and will make baby quilts and Christmas stockings incorporating pieces of the fabrics. So my grandchildren and great nieces and nephews have pieces from their great grandmother and made by their great-Aunt
