Christmas ideas

I belong to a small quilt group (15-20 women). We exchange small things each Xmas and I'm running out of ideas. We do a lot of charity quilts. This year I'm considering cutting out blocks (maybe Jacobs Ladder) to give each person. We would probably get together (maybe March) and make 1-2 charity quilts from these blocks. Only two of use are beginning quilters, the rest of us are 5-10 year quilters and really don't need more FQ etc., or is this a bad idea. The backing & batting is provided free.

A couple years ago I was given a key chain with a spool of thread as the holder on the ring. I love it. I wonder if you could find some things like that at the local shop...

Nancy, what a wonderful idea, cheap too but so useful and up to date. I love the idea.

Thanks QuitnNan for the link. I ordered some of these rulers for stocking stuffers.

Our Guild had these made for our 25th anniversary---this is a GREAT go to ruler in my supplies

If you are thinking this this direction..... how about a collection of half-square triangle blocks. This could help clean out your stash, be used in charity quilts or be the start of a new scrappy quilt, pillow cover etc. Small travel sized hand lotion may be a good idea also. I keep one in my sewing basket for the times my hands get dry just from handling fabric for hours at a time.

Every year I make something for our Managers at Wal Mart. There are 20 of them. I also make one for the kids, grandkids. (There are 28 of them) Just a little something.

This is what I am making this year https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pB4jFqkn8MY. It is not a good picture but here are a few of the ones I have made so far (I am using the football team they like as a theme. One doesn't like football so I did it in CHRISTmas.

The year before I made fabric boxes

Last year at our quilt guild we have a gift exchange and I made a couple fabric boxes - a small one, which I put some Christmas candy in and a little bigger one just the size to put some fat quarters in - they were a hit - especially the one filled with fat quarters. I cut the fat quarters from my own sash.
