christmas in july
Why don't quilting magazines put Christmas projects in the July issue so we have time to make them for Christmas??
Because they don't sell well. Most people don't plan that far ahead.
People probably aren't in the mood for Christmas in July. But, if you are, there are always past year's Christmas issues you can dig into in July...
I'm always in the mood for Christmas quilts

Any pattern can be Christmas by using fabrics for Christmas. Most fabric stores have Christmas fabrics in July.
hmmm, then why do stores put up Christmas decorations so early? I hate that myself.
I worked in a quilt shop and we had Christmas fabrics in the shop and samples going in July. I think our brains can tune things out when we aren't ready to face it. Make a mental note and notice the Christmas in July sales next summer.

One of our guild members made all of her sample/test blocks using Christmas colors. In due time she had enough for a sampler Christmas quilt!

Thank you so much. Purl |
I have found too that if you like a Christmas design by the time the magazines comes out the fabric they used for the project is no longer available. I had this happen to me; I had to use something else but I really did like what was used in that particular magazine. I try now not to get my heart set on something in a magazine cause I KNOW I'll never find that exact fabric.
