Personally, I think you're on th right track. I want to do a 'Christmas' quilt, but I don't want the bright reds and greens for sure. I'm going with burgundies, dark greens, and warm tans. I'm aiming for a winter's feel so i can use it until warms up in Wisconsin. So it should be good until the end of May 😏

I think you should use what you like and I'm sure there will be green in your house (Christmas tree, etc) over the holidays to compliment it. I'm not a big fan of making a quilt that is strictly one holiday anyway - that's just me, it's your quilt. Go girl.

I like the colors you have used for the block. Have you thought of making the back out of something with a bit more Christmas look....maybe something with holly on the back? That way it's still a Christmas quilt but not with the traditional red & green for the focal area.

I like the way it is, Christmas doesn't have to scream red and green on everything. It will blend in with other Christmas decorations and it can be used year round without the green.

It looks good with those colors, but it doesn't look Christmasy. I would substitute green for the tan fabric.

My thoughts exactly. The colors you sewed together have a versatile, year round appeal. Besides, why spend time putting together colors you don't really like (assuming this quilt is for you, not someone else who adores red and green)? I can see a silver, red, tan, and white theme emerging easily for Christmas with decorations. |
I like it & to make it Christmassy just put a Christmas type centerpiece like candles, holly, green pine branches or whatever. Then after Christmas you can use it for everyday. It will be great!
