Christmas table cloth

I just finished the top of a table cloth, 1st time I tried applique on the corner pieces, should I use quilt batting in the middle, I want to FMQ on it?

IMO, it will lay much nicer with something for batting. My favorite is like Pellon fleece interfacing. It's sold with the interfacing in stores, not with the batting. 45" wide and easy to work with.

It's going to be a pretty tabletopper.

If you want to do a quilted tablecloth, I wonder if a layer of white fleece on the back would work instead of batting. It would be puffy enough to FMQ and would wash up well.

I like to do something thin for batting - you can use flannel (preshrink it first), Hobbs Thermore, or a thin cotton like Quilter's Dream Request. The appliques came out great - this will look wonderful on your table!

Love your fabrics and the way you put them together (borders etc.) You could use a pellon fleece for batting then quilt it. Thats going to look great on your christmas table!!

I have a placemat pattern that recommends using a simple layer of muslin instead of batting. It would add some body without the puffiness.

You did a beautiful job as it's a beautiful quilt. For a table cloth, stick to a thin batting, cotton or polyester, or as Tartan has suggested - a layer of white fleece, as you don't want it too puffy for a table cloth. Since it is a table cloth, you might want to include thin plastic to put over it to protect it from spills.

I just made tabletoppers and placemats using felt off the bolt. worked great
